Synopsis
A brave poet who openly criticizes the Suharto regime in Indonesia is accused of being responsible for riots that occur in Jakarta in 1996. Forced to flee, he seeks refuge in Pontianak, Borneo, where he hides from the authorities for eight months, living with strangers and changing his identity several times. Meanwhile, his wife Sipon and children face constant surveillance in Solo, Central Java. In May 1998, the poet Wiji Thukul was declared missing, only a month before Suharto fell into the hands of his own people.
