In 1976, Karen and Barry Mason faced financial difficulties until they answered a commercial in the Los Angeles Times. Larry Flynt was looking for distributors for his magazine Hustler Magazine. This casual opportunity would launch them into the world of the LGBT community, turning them into pioneer promoters and entrepreneurs in the adult entertainment sector. Over a decade, his efforts would culminate in the creation of Circus of Books, a flagship store that would become the largest distributor of gay pornographic content in the United States during the 1980s.
